Management Philosophy

The Family Care Network uses a participatory, non-hierarchical management structure, built on strong leadership and effective management to foster an environment conducive to giving input, encouraging creativity and initiating a free exchange of ideas.

The agency’s organizational management consists of four elements:

  1. Planning
  2. Organizing
  3. Directing and Leading
  4. Evaluating

It is a continual, circular process responsible for maintaining the viability and health of the agency in support of the agency’s mission.

The agency operates four levels of governance:

  1. The Board of Directors, who meet monthly and focus on broad policy, vision and general oversight.
  2. The Executive Team, who meets weekly and ad hoc to provide immediate, direct all-agency administrative control and decision-making.
  3. The Management Council, which consists of all managers and supervisors, who meet weekly to serve as a forum for disseminating information, reporting program performance and needs, and for maintaining agency accountability.
  4. The Program Units, who meet weekly to ensure consistent and effective program operations.
