Prevention and Early Intervention Services

Goals:

  • Divert youth from involvement in the juvenile justice system
  • Reduce parent/youth conflicts by strengthening family relationships
  • Develop assets and life skills in high-needs youth
  • Improve the skills of parents and caregivers
  • Assist youth in becoming responsible, healthy and productive members of their community

Programs:

  • Intensive Community Diversion (ICD)
    Mental-health services provided through geographically located community diversion teams in partnership with Probation and local city police departments.
  • School-Based Mental Health Services
    In partnership with the San Luis Obispo County Office of Education and the County Behavioral Health Department, the agency provides highly trained Behavioral Specialists to work within specialized classrooms for emotionally disturbed students.
  • Community School Services
    Counseling services provided to all San Luis Obispo County-based Community Schools and operated by the County Office of Education.
  • Youth and Families Restoration Program
    A community placement alternative for probation youth that provides a secure setting for up to six months in collaboration with San Luis Obispo Probation Department.
