Community Relations Internship

Description: 

The Community Relations Intern works within the Family Care Network’s Community Resources Development Department, assisting with public relations, advertising, outreach, marketing and event planning for at least one of our annual events (Miracle Miles for Kids, Benefit for Kids, or Sponsor a Child). This is a paid internship that is eligible for college credit.

Requirements: 
  • Marketing, Journalism, Communications and Public Relations majors preferred
  • 2 quarter required commitment (3 quarters preferred)
    • Must be able to work during normal business hours, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday
    • 12-15 hours per week
  • Must be knowledgeable about marketing strategies for various target audiences (i.e. Greek life, clubs, associations, schools, businesses) and have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be creative and have the ability to “think outside the box”
  • Pass a thorough screening process which includes:
    • Interview, 4 reference checks (at least 1 of these must be a recent or past employer)
    • Agreement to policies on confidentiality, child abuse reporting, activity safety and more
    • Live Scan (Fingerprinting), and a Child Abuse Index, Criminal Record Affidavit
    • Health/Drug Screen, TB Test
    • DMV printout of driving record
  • Attend initial Intern training and weekly meetings with Intern supervisor
Responsibilities: 
  • Assist with event PR, advertising, outreach and marketing
  • Assist in and contribute to strategic discussion for overall event marketing
  • Conduct research to create a targeted prospect list based on the current event
  • Participate in the creation of tools to maximize revenue and increase participation
  • Build relationships and form teams on behalf of FCNI with local clubs, organizations and businesses through various communication efforts (i.e. onsite presentations, email solicitation, social media and phone calls)
  • Complete other duties as assigned
