Let’s Change a Child’s Story

Like many donors, Brandy decided to give to the Family Care Network because she was confident that her gift would help to change a child’s story from one of uncertainty to stability. Brandy’s desire to support the agency and its work was born out of her own personal experience as a Family Care Network foster child. Brandy saw first hand how small kindnesses shown to a foster child can be life-altering.

At age 15 Brandy found herself in a Family Care Network foster home, provided with a sense of security that she had never felt before. Brandy’s foster mother showed her a different kind of love and helped to increase the young girl’s sense of self-worth. When asked what her foster mother’s support meant to her, Brandy states, “You think you are in the world alone and then you find out there are people that actually care that aren’t getting anything out of it.”

Now in her 30's, Brandy is the proud mother of a daughter and two sons ranging in age from five to 11 years old. She has owned multiple businesses and now happily resides in Texas. Hers is a story of unwavering resilience, as Brandy has achieved success on many levels.

“It doesn’t take much to change someone’s life.”

Brandy was inspired by the selflessness of many people she encountered during her time in foster care. “When it comes down to it, 10 years later, it’s the people you remember. I’m thankful I had people that said ‘this is not what your life is going to be.’” Although Brandy’s world seemed to be crashing down around her when she entered foster care, by focusing on the positive people placed in her life, she found purpose and hope. Brandy is now excited to be in a position of giving back to those who gave so much to her, saying, “It doesn’t take much to change someone’s life.”

The Family Care Network is in the business of changing the life stories of children from ones of hopelessness to ones of hopefulness. We could not achieve our mission, “To enhance the wellbeing of children and families,” without our community–caring individuals such as yourself!
