The Family Care Network's Transitional Housing Placement Program (THPP) has homes and apartments scattered throughout San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties. In each living situation, a responsible adult lives alongside our foster youth as a positive role-model.
Resident advisors (RAs) are not employees of The Family Care Network; they are volunteers who are compensated with rent and utilities. In exchange, resident advisors are required to be home every night and report any concerns they might have about the youth living in the home. Resident advisors are not required to work directly with the youth in their home so they can attend school or go to work full-time and come home to role-model healthy, independent living skills with their foster youth housemates. Often times, resident advisors develop meaningful mentoring relationships with their housemates.
