Community-Produced Events

One of the ways the community can become involved in serving foster and high-needs children and families is by holding a community-produced event on behalf of the Family Care Network. Community-produced events are designed and executed by outside businesses, organizations or individuals with the intent of raising funds for the agency, increasing the public’s awareness of the agency or providing services to those served by the agency. For example, a group holds an event and either donates profits to the agency or allows those served by the agency to benefit by taking part in the event.  Such events are mutually beneficial as the business or group that produces the event aligns itself with one of the most reputable non-profits  on the Central Coast by doing so. They increase public awarness not only for the Family Care Network, but also for themselves.

Past Community Produced events include:

  • Golf Tournaments (hosted by the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors) with proceeds donated to the Family Care Network.
  • Back to School BBQ (hosted by Cal Poly Fraternity Alpha Gamma Omega) where Family Care Network foster and high-needs children and families enjoyed barbequed burgers, games and a bounce house. All children and youth also received free school supplies.
  • Polar Express (hosted by the Jacobs’ Family and Sylvester Winery) where young foster and high-needs children board Sylvester Winery’s antique train for a magical reading of The Polar Express book in addition to enjoying many other Christmas time treats.

The Purpose of community-produced events is to allow outside organizations and individuals to serve foster and high-needs children and families while taking the task of event-planning off of agency staff. The significant financial or experiential contribution community-produced events make is greatly needed and appreciated by both the staff and clients of the Family Care Network.
